Old Glory Man O' War

Merrimack Miniatures model dubbed Califia by painter Micah Fitzpatrick, this lady of the seas finally saw some regular use in a recent maritime D&D campaign run by a friend. Painted using Cross-sections Man-of-War by Stephen Biesty as a reference, and photographed from the stern to show off the detailing.

Island and Miniature Building Authority Boats

I had notions of creating a hill with some left over insulating foam sealant. I jammed in some plastic trees I had no use for and carved on it a bit after it dried, but it looked pretty bad until my Mom painted it into something that looked amazingly natural. Sadly, the puffed up edges make for a poor hill, but after all the effort my Mom put into it I'm glad it makes such a wonderful island!

The MBA minis include Euro Series Small Wooden Boat and Wooden Jetty as well as High Adventure River Steamer and Sanpan.

Flagship Games Large Galleon Bow

Pictured with swivel guns and removable side cannon (via a pin). The color scheme is based on the Spanish Armada of the 16th Century. Painted by Micah Fitzpatrick.

Flagship Games Large Galleon Stern

Per Flagship, AKA Hulk. Pictured with OOP Flagship stern wreck and some toy sharks, including a bigger shark head that was the lid for the tube the toys came in.

Flagship Games Large Galleon Stern Detail

The name El Gran Grifón was borrowed from a Spanish Armada Flagship... the real one sunk, hopefully this ship will fare better. The shield is based on Griffin heraldry.

Flagship Games Galleass and Galiot Bow

Paint schemes were inspired by Venetian Galleas and Papal Galiot colors from the Battle of Lepanto.

The Galiot came with two forecastle options and were modelled with pins to enable switching between Ventian (rectangular) and Ottoman (rounded) styles. Ironically this photo features the Venetian forecastle with a Muslim symbol painted on it.

Flagship Games Galleass and Galiot Stern

The Galleass is named after Antonio Bragadin, one of the merchant captains in the Battle of Lepanto.

The Galiot is named Capitana after the Papal flagship captained by Marcantonio Colonna in the Battle of Lepanto; the Venetian style forcastle is depicted.

Weapons depicted are stone throwers (new metal and old resin style), a bolt thrower, and a Greek fire thrower.

Flagship Games Gunship, Sloop and Cog Bow

The Flagship Games Cog was remodeled to have two masts and renamed the Galleon.

Weapons depicted amongst the ships are Cannon (three new style and old resin one), Cannon Royal, Culverin (new metal style and old reson one), Bombard (new metal style and old resin one), Falconet, Dropper, Rocket, and Swivel Guns

Flagship Games Gunship, Sloop and Cog Stern

After the Second Battle of Copenhagen in the Gunboat War, a Danish Gunboat, the Stege, was siezed and added to the British Navy as the Warning.

Sloops were favored by pirates for their speed. Ironically this one is named the Stege and is colored very similar to the Hansa Cog... perhaps a Danish pirate stole their ship back!

The Cog is named Peter von Danzin, a German 15th century ship of the the Hanseatic League, and the shield depicts the Lübeck coat of arms.

Flagship Games Small Submersibles and Rowboats

Three old style Wolf Pack small submersibles. Micah Fiztpatrick painted the two on the left and made the porthole backrounds yellow to make them appear illuminated inside... apparently the ball tended to magnify any debris, making this appraoch a pain, but the effect is nice. Both have Dorsal Spines. I bought the one on the right at a gaming convention flea market.

Flagship Games Torpedoes and Dugout Canoes

Three canoes from the dugout set, submerged markers for the Wolf Packs, and what I think are three small torpedoes.

Dock and Small Boats

I believe the dock and raft are from Dixon Miniatures. Micah Fitzpatrick did a nice job of simulating algae growth on the dock.

The longboat is from the Old Glory Pirates in Rowboat set. I think the boat with the rudder is from the Minifigs British Napoleonic Longboat and crew set.

The three white boats are foam resin and I believe were supposed to be 15mm scale, but I plan to use them as skiffs.
